Archive Sheffield is a citywide archive, set up to represent the many different facets of Sheffield life by telling the stories of the people who live and have lived in the many different and diverse communities. The project was initiated by the late Clive Egginton, a great friend and close collaborator with many other photographers in Sheffield, who continue to grow the archive and document the city’s past, present and future.
Field helped to foster and support this endeavor by building a clean, functional website to house these photographic projects, designed to allow contributors to easily upload work, with a place for news, blog posts and other documents. Alongside the website, we also developed a simple logo to help give an identity to the project without distracting from the work on show.
As is the driving force behind the practice of photographers around the world, Clive’s intrigue and curiosity allowed him to capture the energy of Sheffield through a lens, demonstrating the art of storytelling and narrative through sequential imagery. Through the Archive Sheffield project, Clive and his collaborators were able to catalogue this important history, making a huge contribution to the photographic landscape of Sheffield.
