The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) is a global professional membership, delivering better buildings, places, stronger communities and sustainable environments. RIBA North is a new national architecture centre and cultural destination on the waterfront in Liverpool. Cerámica was the first exhibition at RIBA North in 2017, exploring ECAlabs experimental design methodologies using traditional and digital engineering processes for sustainable architecture.
Field translated the identity we created for Cerámica to function spatially in an exhibition environment which attracted 14,647 visitors over 19 weeks. While the brand is visually striking, it was used in a careful and considered way to allow the exhibits to take centre stage.
RIBA North’s City Gallery is a space for visitors to appreciate Liverpool’s past present and future, as well as the processes involved in urban development and the evolution of the built environment. The Cerámica exhibition looks to the future of architectural elements and combines the best aspects of global connectivity and digital capabilities with local craftsmanship. Cerámica was the first exhibition at RIBA North when it opened in 2017.
