The Gibside National Trust site is one of the few surviving 18th-century Georgian landscape gardens, forged from an industrial past. Field designed the identity for a collaborative exhibition inspired by the garden’s architecture it’s rich history in exotic African Plants.

Working with content from the Interior Architecture students at Northumbria University, we produced a series of graphic panels that hang on a custom frame structure and are situated in the garden itself for the duration of the exhibition. The panels hang from custom structures built from scaffold, wood and metal, echoing the industrial history of the garden. The aim of the project is to redesign, renew and revive, honoring history while breathing new life into the historic national trust site.
After the initial exhibition, the show was renewed as a permanent installation. The graphic style of the identity continues to be used to inform the next stage of the project, with a transition to more natural hues to differentiate between the two phases of the exhibition.
