The Department of Materials Science & Engineering at The University of Sheffield develops innovative materials to improve lives and protect the environment, having a real impact on global, societal challenges. World leading staff and talented students use their knowledge of structure and material to work in sectors ranging from glass, sports equipment, aerospace, biotechnology, environment and climate change. The Department of Materials Science & Engineering asked Field to produce an open day guide to encourage and inform prospective students.
The guide consists of four different publications, all housed in one large pack. The outside of the pack is minimal and clean, creating a vibrant burst of colour when the user opens the cover, reflecting the academic yet fascinating nature of the subject.
The visual approach for the publications took inspiration from the meticulous research done within the department to inform the die cut circular motif, giving focus and clarity to specific elements within the bigger, more detailed picture.
